COVID-19 updates for SMHS patients and visitors – 27 April 2021

Text reads COVID-19 update
27/04/2021

Interim restrictions remain in place from 12.01am Tuesday 27 April until 12.01am Saturday 1 May 2021.

Whilst these restrictions are inconvenient, they are necessary and we ask you remain patient during this time.

Read how South Metropolitan Health Service will continue to provide health care during this next phase of COVID-19 restrictions.

If you have an outpatient or elective surgery procedure booked

Please do not contact the hospital – read the information below, and wait for hospital staff to contact you with more information.

Elective surgery

As announced by the Minister for Health, Category 1 and urgent Category 2 elective surgeries will continue.

Non-urgent Category 2 and all Category 3 elective surgeries scheduled for this week have been suspended.

You will be contacted by the hospital if your procedure is to be rescheduled.

Outpatients

Non-urgent outpatient and community health appointments will continue, however, all will be conducted via telehealth or rescheduled to a later date wherever appropriate.

You can find detailed information on any changes to your existing appointments using the Manage My Care app (Healthy WA).

You will be contacted by the hospital if your procedure is to be rescheduled.

Hospital visitors

Until Saturday 1 May 2021, visitors are not allowed except on compassionate grounds as decided by the treating team. One birthing partner is permitted to accompany a woman in labour at both Fiona Stanley Hospital and Rockingham General Hospital.

If given consent to visit, the visitor must wear a mask as per the advice below.

Masks

All visitors will be required to wear a mask as per WA Health guidelines and will be provided with a mask on entry to the hospital.

The only exception to this will be those who are able to produce a medical certificate stating that they cannot wear a mask.

Any visitor who does not comply with these requirements will be asked to leave the hospital immediately.

Visitors are required to register their visit via the SafeWA app/QR code or manual registers located at our sites.

Physical distancing must be maintained (1 person per 4sqm).

Access points to all our sites will be restricted and staff may be required to use their swipe card to gain entry to their workplace.

COVID clinics

From Tuesday 27 April, opening hours at COVID clinics at Fiona Stanley Hospital (external site) and Rockingham General Hospital (external site) have been extended from 8.00am to 8.00pm.
