Learn about SMHS HealthReady Pipeline application, assessment and validation processes

Get involved in HealthReady

Local, national and international businesses are eligible to apply to the SMHS HealthReady Pipeline, however preference is given to WA businesses and individuals. Innovators will have access to all SMHS sites for product/idea validation.

The pipeline is not a procurement pipeline.

Inclusions and exclusions

Inclusions:

  • Medical and non-medical devices
  • Consumables (clinical and non-clinical)
  • Digital med-tech and bio-tech innovations
  • Health innovations.

Exclusions:

  • Pharmaceuticals

Pipeline process

Stage Details
Step 1

Expression of interest (EOI)
Interested organisations submit an expression of interest.

Gate 1

Desktop assessment
A desktop assessment on suitability is undertaken by SMHS. Feedback will be given if innovation does not progress.

Step 2

Pitch
Chosen innovators receive an invitation to pitch their idea to a panel of SMHS executives and clinicians.

Step 3

Proof of value to initial clinical trials

Gate 2

Assessment
Evaluation of product or idea by SMHS clinicians. Decision point to progress or close.

Step 4 Proof of concept to proof of feasibility.
Gate 3

Assessment
Evaluation of product or idea by SMHS clinicians. Decision point to progress or close.

Step 5 Validation of solution to approval and launch.
HealthReady

Product exits the pipeline.

 

Innovations can enter the process at steps 1,3 or 4, depending on where the innovation is in its development cycle.
