Supporting positive mental health and wellbeing

SMHS is committed to supporting positive mental health and wellbeing within the community, and has partnered with Mentally Healthy WA to promote the Act Belong Commit (external site) health campaign.

Act Belong Commit is a community based health promotion campaign that encourages people to be proactive about their mental health and wellbeing. Just as there are things we can and should do to keep physically healthy, there are things we can and should do to keep mentally healthy.

The Act Belong Commit guidelines for positive mental health provide a simple approach you can adopt to become more mentally healthy:

Act – keep active physically, socially, mentally and spiritually.

Belong – keep connected to friends, family and your community.

Commit – do something meaningful, important and valuable to you.

For more information visit Act Belong Commit (external site).

For help with mental health issues

General Practitioners (GPs) can make referrals to specialist mental health services when needed.

There is also a wide network of non-government organisations that provide many important mental health services with assistance from the State Government.

Information on getting help is available from the Mental Health Commission (external site).
