New junior doctors at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) have started their orientation on the right foot with a presentation on a new, free app called LifeBerg (external site), developed by a junior doctor to help them manage their busy work and life schedules.

Launched at the start of 2025, FSH junior doctor, Dr Claudia Harmawan was instrumental in the apps’ development with FSH wellbeing reference group member and junior doctor Dr Hanh Nguyen. Hanh developed the app, alongside Claudia, with the input of doctors from different specialties and training stages, medical students, allied health professionals and members of the public across Australia.

The core mission at LifeBerg is to support the holistic wellbeing of users so that they can, in turn, care for those around them.

Claudia said the Lifeberg app helped her to be intentional with her time. “Lifeberg tracks my work commitments and personalised goals within timeframes that help to improve my productivity, whilst also assisting me to prioritise my own holistic wellbeing.”

Other South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) junior doctors who have also used the app said it helped them to take a moment out of their busy working day to incorporate wellbeing and meaningful activities.

“The mood tracker, journals and gratitude prompts have made me more aware of monitoring my moods and lifestyle to ensure that I retain a good work-life balance and build healthy habits whilst working as a junior doctor,” another doctor said.

LifeBerg is freely available on both Google Play (external site) and the Apple App Store (external site).
