Australia's new national emergency warning system, AusAlert, will be tested across the country on Monday 27 July 2026.
At 12.00pm in Western Australia, everyone in Australia with a compatible mobile device will receive a test AusAlert message. No action is required when you receive the alert, please ignore the message.Please be aware that all mobile devices receiving the alert will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for approximately 10 seconds, which may be disruptive in workplaces, meetings and other public areas.
Anyone with a compatible phone or mobile device in Australia can expect to receive the test alert.
The only way to avoid the warning sound is to switch your mobile device off or place it in aeroplane mode before the test. Devices set to silent mode will still play the 10-second alert sound.

AusAlert is expected to be operational from October 2026, it will provide more targeted and reliable emergency warnings directly to compatible devices in affected areas, helping authorities communicate quickly during emergencies and disasters.
