SMHS is seeking new changemakers

South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) Mental Health is inviting young people to lead the way because designing mental health care for young people should be done with young people, not for them. That’s why we’re creating a space where lived experience leads the way.
Our new Youth Advisory Group (YAG) is for people aged 16 to 28 who’ve experienced mental health services in the southern Perth region, including Peel and Murray.
Whether you’ve received care or supported someone who has, your insights are powerful and we want to hear them.
This is your chance to:
- co-design services that reflect real needs and experiences
- speak up for change and help others access better support
- share your perspective to guide decisions that affect your generation
- connect with other passionate young people making a difference.
We’re welcoming all youth voices, including from:
- Aboriginal communities
- culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- young people with disabilities.
If you’re ready to turn your experience into impact, visit Put it to the People (external site).
Applications close on Monday 20 October 2025.
Keep up to date with our news and achievements
